How does it All Work?

Anxiety disorders, next to depression, are among the most common mental health disorders in young people. This can include phobias, panic disorder, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Mental health problems affect about 1 in 10 children and young people. They include depression, anxiety, and conduct disorder, and are often a direct response to what is happening in their lives.

Alarmingly, however, 70% of children and young people who experience a mental health problem have not had appropriate interventions at a sufficiently early age.

The emotional wellbeing of children is just as important as their physical health. Good mental health allows children and young people to develop the resilience to cope with whatever life throws at them and grow into well-rounded, healthy adults.

This is what we can offer to Empower our young adults:

 having the time and the freedom to play, indoors and outdoors

 being part of a family that gets along well most of the time (this is what we can provide through Empower)

 taking part in local activities for young people.

Here at Empower we also appreciate that there are other factors including:

 feeling loved, trusted, understood, valued, and safe

 being interested in life and having opportunities to enjoy themselves

 being hopeful and optimistic

 being able to learn and having opportunities to succeed

 accepting who they are and recognizing what they are good at

 having a sense of belonging in their family, school, and community

 feeling they have some control over their own life

 having the strength to cope when something is wrong (resilience) and the ability to solve problems.

Most children grow up mentally healthy, but surveys suggest that more children and young people have problems with their mental health today than 30 years ago. That is probably because of changes in the way we live now and how that affects the experience of growing up.

You also do get certificates at the end of the course which shows what you have achieved, we have attached an example below.  Plus you also have the opportunity to obtain one of our many online courses available. One of our Directors, Sarah has done several of these courses, and one of her certificates is above so you can see what you will receive!

We are a Preston based non for profit organization set up to help the young adults of the NorthWest.  We are offering courses in a large variety of skills and trades, whilst looking to nurture our students between 11 and 18 years of age.  Programs will be done to the relevant age group, and we welcome all to us, especially those who may have suffered from Self-Esteem, Confidence, or Mental Health Issues.

As we are looking to work with businesses of all trades in the NorthWest we have a full diversity of roles and coaching available, but as well as this we do our group therapy, one to one sessions, team building and group coaching, plus with external suppliers coming in to see our students they have access to the widest spectrum possible.

Ingol BEAT 103 Radio @ Ingol Community Primary School

We have recently opened a hub at Ingol Community Primary School to help our young presenters of the future learn about everything radio and media.  We would be happy to discuss this with any other school if this was something they would be interested in.

We are also in discussions with Ashton Community Science College.

Here at Empower Your Future, we deliver motivational speak by using an enjoyable and beneficial learning experience.

We use motivational theories, strategies (SWOT Analysis), true-life events, and tailored practical scenarios to raise the self-esteem of people and put them on the right track to achieve greater goals.

We believe that every individual is unique and with the right level of motivation, people can accomplish all they want from life.

Topics we cover include:

  • Building Self-Esteem
  • Overcoming your Fear
  • Investing in Yourself
  • Achieving your Dream

We are keen to work with ALL ethnic backgrounds, race, sex, and racial equality with our young people as we are looking to be teaching the young about the history of different cultures as well as showing them they do have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
